LIVERMORE FALLS — The superintendent of Regional School Unit 36 will outline the process of closing a school at a board meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Central Office.
The Reorganization Planning Committee that put together a plan to merge the Jay School Department and RSU 36 has recommended that Livermore Falls Middle School be closed.
The consolidation plan that will go before voters in Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls on Tuesday does not include that recommendation. If the plan is approved, a new school board will be elected and will decide whether to ask voters in Livermore and Livermore Falls to close the middle school.
If voters approve, students would be sent to Jay Middle School. The RSU 36 Board of Directors also could start the process, which takes about 12 weeks to complete, Superintendent Sue Pratt said.
