AUBURN — Irene J. Thomas, 86, a resident of 4 Colonial Way died early Tuesday, Jan. 18, at her residence after a long illness.

She was born in Lewiston, Feb. 26, 1924, the daughter of Ronaldo and Josephine (Nauges) Chartrand.

Irene was a loving mother and grandmother. She worked in the local shoe industry while she was raising a family. After her retirement, she also worked as a certified nurses aid for Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice.

Survivors include two sons, Raymond Duval of Auburn and Clinton Thomas of Barrington, N.H.; one daughter, Linda Baril and her husband, Kim, of Barrington, N.H.; one brother, Maurice Chartrand of California; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
