LEWISTON — Funeral services were held Friday for Leo N. Richard at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul after prayers at The Fortin Group Funeral Home. Monsignor Marc B. Caron officiated, assisted by Brother Irenee Richard, OP, brother of the deceased. The scripture reading was read by June Richard. The gospel was proclaimed by Deacon Denis Mailhot, prayer of the faithful was read by Michael Hebert and the offertory gifts were brought to the altar by Rebecca Buckley, Courtney Desmarais and Melissa Richard. Words of remembrance were shared by Brother Richard. A delegation from St. Dominic Academy J.V. and varsity hockey teams attended the services. Committal prayers followed at St. Peter’s Cemetery with military honors provided by the U.S. Marine Corp honor guard from Topsham. Honorary bearers were Leo’s seven brothers, Brother Irenee Richard, Fernand, Donald, Philippe, Louis, Gerard and Robert. The active casket bearers were Lucien and Steve Richard, Aaron Buckley, Wil Desmarais, Michael, Nathan and Jacob Richard.
