LEWISTON — The YWCA of Central Maine will offer American Red Cross lifeguard training from 3 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18; 1 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19; 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20; and 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21.

The course teaches students the knowledge and skills essential to prevent and, if necessary, respond to aquatic emergencies appropriately. It includes American Red Cross CPR/AED for professional rescuers and standard first aid.

Participants must be at least age 15 and complete a 300-yard swim and timed deep water object removal prerequisite to starting the course. The prerequisite tests will take place on the first day of classes.

Members of the YWCA pay $225 for the four-day session and non-members pay $250. Space is limited, and registrations need to be in by Friday, Feb. 4.
