COLUMBUS, Ohio — Frank Eugene Sleeper, 76, of Columbus, Ohio, passed peacefully surrounded by his loved ones on Thursday, Jan. 20.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Joan Barbara (Grimm) in 2007.

He was born in Lewiston. He graduated from Lewiston High School in 1951, and the University of Maine in 1955 with a degree in chemical engineering.

Frank was active at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Columbus, Ohio, and later in life at St. Johns Church in Logan, Ohio. He moved to Columbus with his wife, Joan, to work at Industrial Nucleonics and later formed and operated a successful agency selling air pollution control systems to industries throughout Ohio and West Virginia. After retiring Frank spent the remainder of his days in Hocking Hills, Ohio.

He had numerous interests and activities including woodworking and collecting antique wooden tools.

He is survived by his children, Mark (Christina) Sleeper, Terry Thorsen, Brian (Susanne) Sleeper, Mary Beth (Rob) Hamilton and John Sleeper; grandchildren, Lydia Sleeper, Donald, Erik and Heidi Thorsen, Martin, Madeline and Kayleigh Sleeper, and Robbie Hamilton; his dedicated brother, David and Lorraine Sleeper of Scotch Plains, N.J., sister-in-law Helene Geisert (widow of George) of Queens, N.Y.; niece, Lisa (Steve) Frangione; and nephews, Andrew (Diane), Steven (Jody) and Matthew Geisert.
