DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Lewiston High School Art Department and black-and-white photography program is seeking donations of film cameras, both manual and point and shoot. This is a very popular program, and we are always looking to collect working cameras for our students.

We are also in need of some darkroom equipment.

We want to thank the community for the past and present donations that have helped support such a wonderful program for our students.

Cameras may be dropped off at the main office for photography. For further information, please e-mail me. — Sarah Stocker, sstocker@lewistonpublicschools.org

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Can you please help me find a camera shop that repairs faulty cameras? There was one on Lisbon Street, but it is no longer there. — Mary Davis, Bethel

ANSWER: Sun Spots answered your question on Dec. 24. She guesses you missed it due to the Christmas holidays, so here it is again:

You did not specify if your camera is a traditional film unit or digital, but because your letter is handwritten, it seems more likely the former. Shep’s Camera, 16 Hall Road, Woolwich, ME 04579-4900 does repairs and cleaning. Owner David Kloberdans requests people call 207-522-9676 for an appointment. People may also mail their camera to him and include their contact information and a description of the problem, and he will assess the need and provide an estimate.

In the event that your camera is digital, Sun Spots has been told by several dealers that most digital cameras are not worth fixing. If they can be fixed, they generally must be sent back to the manufacturer or their approved warranty repair shop.

The only place Sun Spots knows for you to start this journey is at Photo Finish, 550 Center St., in Auburn, 783-3354. They probably won’t fix it on site, but they can advise you as to your best option — repair or replacement. If it needs to be sent out for repairs, they can help you with that as well.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I would love to know if any reader has the formula for the old-fashioned wallpaper paste? It certainly keeps the paper on the walls and doesn’t open up the seams like the paste you buy. — Diane Child, CHILDDIANE@aol.com

ANSWER: Sun Spots found instructions on eHow.com (http://tinyurl.com/5tqe9kp) using alum, flour and clove oil and at http://tinyurl.com/656ryyz using flour, sugar and cinnamon oil. Readers will undoubtedly offer their favorite concoctions as well.

TO “J” WHO WROTE ABOUT A LACK OF CHAIRS IN A LAB SERVING SENIORS: Sun Spots cannot read your letter or make out your signature. If you want her to address your question, please write again, print your letter clearly and include your name, address and phone number as well as more identifying information as to the hospital or lab you are concerned about so she can call them. Sun Spots will withhold your name from the paper, but she must have it to follow up on your inquiry.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I want to thank Sun Spots’ readers for their help in the past in supporting Turner Elementary School. We are collecting Box Tops 4 Education to raise money for our school.
