LEWISTON — The Portland Red Claws will host a youth basketball clinic from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Lewiston High School in the gymnasium.

Everyone who planned on attending the Dec. 28 clinic is invited to attend. The clinic was postponed due to weather issues during the holiday week.

Lisbon rec signups

LISBON — Think spring: It is almost time for baseball and softball registration in the Lisbon Junior Athletic League (LJAL). Registration dates are Feb. 15 and 17, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and Feb. 19, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the MTM Center.

Ski series begins

The inaugural alpine ski Triple Crown series will start Friday , Jan. 28 with a dual giant slalom race to be held at Titcomb Mountain in Farmington. The second event will be a slalom at Lost Valley in Auburn, on Friday, Feb. 4. The final event will be a GS at Mt. Abram on Friday, Feb. 11.

Registration deadline is 4 p.m. on the day of the event. Inspection will be from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Race start time is 5 p.m. Racer categories will be 8-9, 10-11 and 12-13 years of age as of Jan. 1, 2011. Entry fee is $15. USM baseball clinics

GORHAM — The University of Southern Maine baseball staff will hold its 21st-annual Pitching, Hitting & Defense Clinics on Sunday, Feb. 20 and Saturday, Feb. 26 in the Costello Fieldhouse on the Gorham campus.

The Pitching & Defense Clinics will be from 9 a.m. to noon, and the Hitting Clinics will be from 1 to 4 p.m. The cost of each session is $35, or the full day at $60. All proceeds help fund the Huskies annual spring trip. Players ages 8 to 18 are welcome. For more information, contact Coach Ed Flaherty at 780-5474.

Hebron snowshoe race

HEBRON — Hebron Academy will host the Hebron Hills Snowshoe Classic charity race on Sunday, Jan. 30, to benefit the Friends of the Little Field Home orphanage in Malawi, Africa.

Online registration is available at www.acidoticracing.com/HebronHills.html. Entry fees are $15 pre-registration, $20 day of the race. Registration begins on race day from 9:30 to 10:30am at the Hebron Academy Athletic Center at 339 Paris Road on Route 119.

The race will begin at 11 a.m. Awards will be presented to age-group winners and in categories of Federation Cup competition.

Established in 2004 by Hebron Academy teacher Janet Littlefield, the Friends Of the Little Field Home mission is to create a long term, loving, supportive and healthy environment for the over 100 orphans of the Ntchisi area, and to work with the community in self-sustaining programs of education, health care, and commerce. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit the organization’s “Brick Campaign” to raise funds for the first construction phase of a seven-building orphanage campus, according to the event’s coordinator, Austin Stonebraker, a teacher at the academy.
