Supt. of Lights Guimond has installed a new flaming arc lamp at Bates and Ash streets in front of the Engine House and Healey Asylum.

Similar lights will also be placed at Lincoln and Main streets. Lincoln and Chestnut streets, Cedar and Lisbon streets and Lisbon and Maple streets.

50 years ago, 1961

The Maurice Music Mart will hold a three-day grand opening starting today at its new location at 188 Lisbon St. It has been located at 296 Lisbon St. the past eight years. The store is operated by Maurice Fournier.

The new store will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. during the grand opening, and will observe regular hours, with Monday and Friday night openings, thereafter.

25 years ago, 1986

LISBON FALLS — Alvah C. White of Lisbon Falls recently celebrated 30 years of service with Central Maine Power Company and joined the company’s Old Timers Club.

White joined CMP in 1956 as a meter reader in Brunswick. He has advanced to meter tester and installer poly-phase.
