SALEM — Mountain Valley turned in stellar performances on offense and defense and bounced Mt. Abram, 52-34, in a girls’ basketball game Thursday night.

The Falcons (10-4) cruised to a 24-16 halftime lead and held the Roadrunners’ (5-9) offense to single-digit scoring for three quarters. Mountain Valley’s Ayla Allen scored 12 points and Makayla White had 10.

For the Roadrunners, Jill Howard scored nine points.

St. Dom’s 65, Boothbay 49

AUBURN — St. Dom’s erupted for 19 points in both the second and fourth quarters and proceeded to take home a 65-49 victory over Boothbay in MVC girl’s basketball action Thursday.

Alaina Murphy led the Saints (8-6) with a NBA-like 31 points, while Mary Caron tallied 17. The two squads were deadlocked at 10-10 after the first frame.

Boothbay (6-8) was paced by Sarah Caron with 18 points, while Alex Clark chipped in with 16.

Hockey

Poland/Gray-NG 4, Massabesic/OOB 1

 SACO — Evan Baggs picked up a pair of goals to help Gray-New Gloucester/Poland come back to take a 4-1 victory over Massabesic/OOB on Thursday.

 Ryan Davala added a goal and an assist for the Patriotic Knights (9-4-1), and Kolby Arnold added to the cause with another marker. Matt Ouellette stopped 17 of 18 shots to earn the victory.

 A.J. Gass opened the scoring for Massabesic/OOB, and Kyle Maclay stopped 21 of 25 in the loss.
