The winter tournament at the Waseca Club of Auburn is rapidly drawing to a close and already the games in billiards, bid whist and four-handed cribbage have been completed. This leaves only the pool, two-handed cribbage and bridge whist games to be finished and the greater part of these have been played. In billiards, F. L. Beals was the winner over B. L. Dyer. A. F. Warren and Merton Warren won the four-handed cribbage and Harry Manser and H. W. Oakes won the bid whist tournament.

Several homes in low lying areas of the upper Androscoggin River had to be evacuated Monday, as the river climbed its banks during the second day of heavy January thaw rains. No human injuries were reported, but in Shelburne, N.H. more than a dozen cattle drowned when a farm was flooded, and smaller livestock died downriver in Maine.

In Lewiston-Auburn, damage was relatively minor, but some city streets were washed out. Bushey Circle and Old Chadbourne Road in Lewiston were barricaded. Among roads in Auburn closed were the Jordan School Road, Jacques Road and Fletcher Road, a Street Department spokesman said.
