It is nice to know that there are still some decent people out there who will take the time to help out a complete stranger.
State road crews had plowed in the end of my driveway on Route 26 and the snow had turned to ice due to the deicing mixture that was put down during the last storm. After struggling for about an hour to chip away at the mound of ice and snow in subzero windchill temperatures, a man and woman with a pickup truck and plow approached and just tooted the horn to have me get out of the way. They cleared the mess for me in about a minute, without asking for anything in return.
I thanked them for saving me about two hours of work, and they drove off. This just shows that in these difficult times, it is more important than ever to help each other out.
Doing good things for others is its own reward.
I just wanted to share this story, with the hope that others will learn to do the same. During these difficult times, it shows that Mainers continue to support their neighbors!
I send my thanks to the strangers who helped me out.
