FARMINGTON — Lucile F. Frechette, 92, of Farmington and former resident of Lavoie Street, Jay, passed away on Friday, Jan. 28, surrounded by her loving family at Pinewood Terrace Assisted Living where she had been a resident since May, 2009.

She was born on July 9, 1918, in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the daughter of Christian Joseph Reinhart and Frances Marie (Winter) Reinhart. She attended schools in Mt. Pleasant and upon graduation, relocated to Washington, D.C, where she served as secretary to Army General Kirk at the U.S. Pentagon. It was at a USO dance in Washington where she met her husband, Master Sargent Gerard (Kit) Frechette USMC of Chisholm, Maine. They married two years later on April 29, 1946, at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

Lucile was a homemaker, devoted wife and mother who unselfishly sacrificed and gave of herself for her family. She inherited her baking and cooking skills from her dad, who for many years was the proprietor of Reinhart’s Bakery in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. It was a common occurrence for her children and grandchildren to request her delicious homemade bread, donuts, cookies and french fries. She found joy in spending time with her family, traveling with her sisters, reading, playing beano, as well as playing cards with her dear friends at Lavoie Street Apartments.

She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church in Jay, a former member of St. Rose Choir and The Daughters of Isabella. She also was an active member and recording secretary of the Senior Citizens Group in Livermore Falls.

She is survived by her seven children, daughters, Jean Frechette of Sidney, Kathy Dalrymple and her husband, Jason, of Jay, Louise Ambrose and her husband, Homer, of Jay, Theresa Meeks and her husband, Jerry, of Livermore; sons, Norman Frechette and his wife, Jody, of Farmington, Mich., Robert Frechette of Franklin Heights, Farmington, and Maurice Frechette and his wife, Belinda, of Jay; grandchildren, Erik Walsh of Chesterville, Scott Walsh of New Sharon, Joshua Ambrose of Somersworth, N.H., Amanda Ambrose of South Portland and Jay, Jared Meeks of Sabattus, Justin Frechette of San Francisco, Calif., Andrew Frechette of Phoenix, Ariz., Melissa Frechette of Jay, Cassandra Frechette of Biddeford and Jay, Kristina Frechette of Jay, Michele Reed of Westminster, Md., and Brandy McLaurin of New Market, Md; great-grandchildren, Haley Walsh, Brody Walsh, Harvey LaForge, Logan Walsh, Brianna Meeks, Trevor Collins, Taylor Collins, Jake Reed, Jason Reed, Devin McLaurin and Trinity McLaurin; sisters, Virginia Huston of League, Texas, and sister-in-law, Fran Reinhart of St. Paul, Minn. She will also be missed by a dear friend, Sheila Poirier, of Sidney. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Gerard (Kit) Frechette who passed away on Dec. 6, 1995; her parents; brother, Chris; sister, Betty Buter; and in-laws, Leon and Alpha Frechette.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Pinewood Terrace and Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice for the loving care and support they gave Lucile and also for the care and compassion shown to her family. Also, thank you to her Hospice nurse, Bonnie Fitch for her caring support and assistance.
