What was your first reaction when you found out you were coming to play in Lewiston?

I was very happy. It was me who asked Shawinigan to trade me. i felt I needed a new challenge for the end of my junior career. When my agent called me a told me the Maineiacs are interested and you’ll probably end your career there, I was very happy.

What was your relationship like with the players on this team before you got here? Did you know anyone to help you along at first?

I didn’t really know what to expect. I knew pretty much everyone in Shawinigan. It was easier at the start of the season there, because I knew all the veterans from the year before. Here, I knew (Pierre-Olivier Morin) before, but I think he was the only guy I knew. At least he knew the rest of the team, and if I had any questions, he could help me.

What does it mean to you to take on a leadership role for this team?

I wanted to. It’s my last year, I’ve been in the league for three years before this season, I have experience that the people here are not really used to the last couple of years. I feel like I can bring leadership to this team.

Talk about your style of play. What do you try and bring to the table?

When I was in Shawinigan, i played for Eric Veilleux, and he’s the kind of guy who like his players to grind all the time and finishes their checks. He likes to have a physical team, and I grew as a player in Shawinigan with him, so I guess because of that, i became more of a grinder. I like to work, I like to finish my checks. That’s my style. I like to always be in the other teams’ face, disturb them.

How good can this team be?

I think we can go far in the playoffs. I know what it takes to win, and in playoffs, it’s very different. Each win, you want to win, because you don’t want to die. The team, they like to play together, they’ll work for each other. When you have a team with talent, that works hard for each other, you have an advantage. This year, i like this team. we have good talent, we have good lines, good defenseman. If everybody respects their roles, we can go really far in the playoffs.
