In November, we returned home with guests from a Thanksgiving holiday in New Hampshire. The driveway was covered with snow, slush and ice. Upon exiting the car, one of the guests slipped and fell, striking her head and rendering her unconscious.

An immediate call to 911 was placed. Since we live less than two miles from an emergency responder, we thought help would arrive within five minutes.

Not wanting to chance further injuring the victim by moving her, we covered her as best we could, though she lay on icy, slushy pavement.

An emergency vehicle sped by toward Minot. We were in constant contact with a 911 dispatcher the whole time. It was nearly a half hour before help arrived.

The ambulance driver told us the call was dispatched to Minot. It seems Garfield Road, Auburn, was confused with Garfield Road, Minot.

We urge residents of Garfield Road in Auburn, as well as in Minot, to contact 911 to find out where their homes are located in the database, and do it before help is needed.
