As founder of the Veterans Memorial Park and as a past director and having served on the Lewiston-Auburn Veterans Council, I recently received a copy of an agreement between the Lewiston City Council and the Lewiston-Auburn Veterans Council. The agreement had to do with having the Veterans Council supplying a liability insurance policy on the park.

I support the idea of having an insurance policy in place to protect the city. I just wish the agreement had been made back when the City Council agreed to rename Heritage Park to Veterans Park.

Veterans Park is well maintained by the city of Lewiston and I’m sure that nothing will change. The veterans and the community appreciate the well-groomed park.

I understand that there is some planning of potential development adjacent to the park. I’m sure that when all is planned and completed, the development will complement the Veterans Memorial Park.
