FARMINGTON — The Gold LEAF Institute Senior College at University of Maine at Farmington will begin its spring term of classes on Tuesday, March 8. As a special offer, anyone joining Gold LEAF for the spring term is eligible to register for a class about alternative funerals scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 23.
Jeremy McFarlane, a licensed funeral director and owner of Adams-McFarlane Funeral and Cremation Service in Farmington, will talk about alternative types of funerals such as green funerals and memorial ceremonies.
There will be a discussion of what a “green” service is and why it is becoming more common. Questions will be answered. The class will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Adams-McFarlane Funeral Home, 108 Court St. The cost is $5.50 a person. Snow date is Monday, Feb. 28.
Membership dues for new members joining Gold LEAF for the first time will be prorated at $10 for the spring term. It is an opportunity to try some classes. Annual dues are $30 for July 1 through June 30.
