LEWISTON — The Nurturing Parenting Program for Parents of School-Age Children is a 15-session class that will begin Tuesday, Feb. 15, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Montello Elementary School, 407 East Ave. The program, for parents and children up to age 12, is free, with dinner provided.

To register, call Kim Desso at 783-3990, ext. 224, by Feb. 9.

Sponsored by Advocates for Children, the Nurturing Parents Program helps parents learn how to establish nurturing routines for meal times, bedtimes and chores, replace yelling with effective discipline techniques, gain a sense of personal power and feel good about themselves and their parenting techniques, and have fun as a family. Children develop greater self-esteem, learn positive attitudes and respect for others’ feelings, and learn how to handle stress and anger in an appropriate manner.
