In the Jan. 29 Sun Journal there was a political cartoon about Iran’s nuclear energy program. The cartoon assumed there is a cover-up for making nuclear armaments. I ask, why did Iran invite reporters from around the world, including one from NBC?

Although the controlling party in Iran is negative to the West and Israel, there is much propaganda on the part of the U.S., to an exaggerated degree that promotes fear and is inaccurate.

Doesn’t that seem similar to George W. Bush’s lies about fake and fearful weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? Does the U.S. have to go through another fear-mongering war? Aren’t the accusations built upon other objections to different Iran policies?

Shouldn’t people acknowledge that the U.S. is the world’s largest producer of armaments? With those producers and their lobbyists in Washington, and with Republican supporters, it is no wonder there are so many excuses to promote ongoing wars.

Why not challenge our elected officials to promote Bath Iron Works, for example, to go maritime? With the country’s high trade deficit, that could bring years of work.
