LISBON FALLS — The Lisbon Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the MTM Center, 18 School St.
After a short business meeting, Albert and Doris Gagne of Bowdoin will speak about Albert’s childhood institutionalization at the Walter E. Fernald State School in Waltham, Mass., as described in “The State Boys’ Rebellion” by Michael D’Antonio.
A video will show life at the institution. Maine’s equivalent of Fernald was the former Pineland Center at New Gloucester. There will be an opportunity to ask questions.
A social hour will be held following the presentation. Each person attending is asked to wear something red and to bring a homemade Valentine, candy, an original poem, or anything else celebrating Valentine’s Day that is homemade, to swap. Members are also asked to bring a refreshment to share.
The public is invited free. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. For more information, call Dorothy Smith at 353-8510.
