RANGELEY — Rangeley used a 20-4 run in the second period to break the game open and roll to a 54-24 triumph over Vinalhaven in a Class D girls’ basketball game Friday.

Leading 12-6 after the first quarter, the Lakers (13-2) took charge to build leads of 32-10 and 46-20 after the middle two frames.

Chantal Carrier led the Lakers with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Emily Carrier chipped in with 11 points and six assists, while Taylor Esty scored 10 points and Sierra Marchacos had five steals.

Mt. Ararat 84, Lewiston 38

LEWISTON — Mallory Nelson recorded 20 points as Mt. Ararat clobbered Lewiston 84-38 in KVAC girls’ basketball.

The Eagles built a 30-16 haltime lead, before ripping 33 points in the third quarter. Mariah Cropley contributed 13 points on four field goals, including three from beyond the arc, and a pair of free throws.

Sophomore guard Kelsey Dumond paced the Blue Devils (0-15) with six field goals for 13 points in the losing effort.

Leavitt 74, Gardiner 36

TURNER — Senior point guard Courtney Anderson compiled a game-high 21 points as Leavitt rolled to a 74-36 victory over Gardiner in KVAC girls’ basketball action Friday.

The Hornets (16-10) stung their prey in the second quarter with a 24-8 run and led 42-18 at the midpoint. Sophomore guard Kristen Anderson notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Junior forward Katie McAllister led the Tigers (8-8) with six points on three field goals in the losing effort.

Lisbon 42, Carrabec 36

LISBON— Kelsey Linnell and Bailey Madore tallied all of their points, scoring 12 of Lisbon’s 20 points in the fourth quarter to lead the Greyhounds to a 42-36 win over Carrabec in MVC girls’ basketball.

The Greyhounds squandered a six-point halftime lead and after scoring only one point in the third quarter, Lisbon trailed the Cobras (6-10) by a point entering the final quarter. Lisbon outscored Carrabec 20-13 in the fourth to seal the victory.

Denise Thomas registered a double-double netting 14 points while hauling down 17 rebounds and having five steals in the victory. Juniors Jessica Campbell added 11 rebounds and five points and Alexa Harmon contributed with eight for the Greyhounds (6-10). Linnell finished the game with seven points.

Melissa White scored a game-high 16 points for Carrabec.

Hampden 53, Mt. Blue 24

HAMPDEN — Senior guard Katelyn DeRaps netted 12 points to lead Hampden Academy to a comfortable 53-24 victory over Mt. Blue.

The Broncos (15-2) got out early with a 16-2 run in the first quarter. Whitney Moore contributed 10 points for Hampden Academy.

Sophomore guard Gabby Foy posted seven points on two field goals and two free throws, including a 3-pointer, for the Cougars (4-12) in the losing effort.
