LEWISTON — Sophomore power forward Steven Patrie recorded 11 points and nine rebounds to lead Lewiston to a 52-43 victory over Brunswick in KVAC boys’ basketball action Saturday.

The Blue Devils took over the tempo in a 19-4 second half run that netted a 24-16 halftime lead.

Joe McKinnon pitched in with nine points on three field goals and three free throws for Lewiston.

The Dragons played rather even in the second half, but the damage had been done in the second quarter.

Junior shooting guard Mitchell Black posted a game-high 22 points for Brunswick in the losing effort.

Vinalhaven 53, Rangeley 38

RANGELEY — Brian Stanley poured in 21 points, including three 3-pointers, as Vinalhaven knocked off Rangeley with a 53-38 victory in a boys’ basketball game Saturday.

Vinalhaven dealt with the Lakers (9-7) swiftly, building a 37-22 lead at halftime. Rangeley sputtered for in the third period, scoring only six points.

For Rangeley, Regan Sargent and George Seaman each scored 10 points.

St. Dom’s 47, Mt. Abram 32

SALEM — Joe Bryant scored all 13 points in the first half to lead St. Dom’s to a 47-32 boys’ basketball triumph over Mt. Abram.

The Saints (7-9) jumped to a 14-0 lead after the first quarter and a 30-10 cushion by halftime.

Tom Applegate added 1o points, 11 rebounds and 5 steals. Kurt Johnson chipped in with 10 points. Travgis Hupper led the Roadrunners (3-13) with 10 points.

Boys’ hockey

St. Dom’s 4, Bangor 1

BANGOR — St. Dom’s got the board first and had the final say in the third period as the Saints sidestepped Bangor, 4-1, in a Class A boys’ hockey game Saturday.

In the first period, Dylan Rodrigue scored on a Danny Nadeau assist at 5:18. Bangor tied it in the second period when Tom Bearor scored at 7:17.

But the Saints erupted with three goals, with Nate Bergeron, Kyle Holtet and Alex Parker all finding the net.

The Rams (7-7) tried to catch up when Carl Farnham scored his unassisted goal, but Saints goalie Grant Carrier would not give up another goal in net.

Lewiston 0, Falmouth 0

FALMOUTH — Lewiston and Falmouth skated to a 0-0 tie Saturday night.

Cam Poussard stopped 25 shots for Lewiston, while Falmouth goalie Dave Gaul made 27.

No other information was available.

Rangeley 59, Vinalhaven 30

RANGELEY — Sisters Chantal and Emily Carrier teamed up to scored a combined total of 39 points and Rangeley’s defense held Vinalhaven to single-digit scoring for three quarters as the Lakers cruised to a 59-30 victory in a girls’ basketball game.

Chantal Carrier scored 22 points, while sister Emily hit for 17, including three 3-pointers and five steals. Sierra Marchacos pulled down nine rebounds and was credited with five steals and five points.

By the half, the Lakers (13-2) had built a 28-9 lead and then scored another 31 points in the second half.

For Vinalhaven, Izza Drury scored 10 points.

Leavitt/Edward Little 1, Greely 0

PORTLAND — Leavitt/Edward Little’s Kayla Royer scored the only goal of the game as the Red Hornets held on for a 1-0 win over Greely at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Saturday.

After a scoreless first period, the Red Hornets’ Royer used a feed from Tory Couture and scored at 7:48 in the second period.

The Red Hornets’ Brianna Stanley kept a vigil in net and earned a shutout.
