AUBURN — The Auburn-Lewiston YMCA is offering a lifeguard certification course from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays, Feb. 13, 20 and 27.
Participants must be at least 15 before the end of the course, must complete a 300-yard swim (100 yards of freestyle, 100 yards of breaststroke and 100 yards of freestyle or breaststroke), then retrieve a 10-pound training brick and return to the starting point.
Upon completion of the course, the lifeguarding, first aid and CPR certifications will be valid for two years. Course fee is $195 for Y members and $235 for nonmembers. Registration is open and class size is limited.
Register at the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA, 62 Turner St., or on-line at www.alymca.org. Those needing to recertify in any area should contact Carrie Bonnefond, aquatics and safety director, at 795-4095.
