MESQUITE, Nev. — Paulette Howaniec, 84, died Friday, Jan. 28, in Mesquite, Nev., where she had resided for seven years.
She was born on April 7, 1926, in Auburn, the eldest of six daughters to Leon Joseph and Dora Anna Brousseau Lajoie. On July 15, 1953, she married Stanley Joseph Howaniec in Berlin, N.H.
Paulette grew up in Lewiston and raised her family there and throughout the south, finally settling in southern California. She worked at Sears as a cosmetic clerk for several years. Her passions included cooking, artwork, children and animals.
She is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Mel) Brothers of Reseda, Calif., and Ella (Mark) Olson of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Yvette LeBlanc of Sabattus, Dolores Bissonnette of Burbank, Calif., and Irene (Gary) Girouard of Lisbon.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stan; and two sisters, Loreen Millard and Jacqueline Bivens.
