Quilters to meet

RUMFORD — Rumford Area Quilters will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 14, at the Rumford United Methodist Church, Linnell Street. All area quilters are invited.

There will be a demonstration on how to make three crib-sized quilt tops with only two cuts. To celebrate Valentine’s Day, members may submit a 12 1/2 inch square with a heart incorporated within the square. Names of those to donate will be included in a drawing.

History challenge

RUMFORD — The Rumford Area Historical Society will conduct a night of history and trivia at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16, at the Rumford Town Hall auditorium.

Members of the audience will be able to compete for prizes along with picked contestants in a game show format.

Snowmobile trail

DIXFIELD — Dixfield landowners who have a snowmobile trail on their land and the Poodunck Snowmobile Club’s groomer travels over it should have received a Christmas card from the club. If note, owners should contact Jon Holmes at 562-4690.

Tea, fashion show

RUMFORD — The Red Hat Mommas of Western Maine met at the Green Church recently with 35 in attendance. A three-course mystery dinner was served by the church women.

Birthdays for the month were celebrated and the teapot exchange was made. A Valentine trivia questionnaire was played. Zumba class will be offered for those who are interested. Call 562-8396.

A tea and period Valentine girl’s fashion show will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23, at the Virgin Memorial Chapel. The cost is $10. The deadline to purchase tickets is Friday, Feb. 18. Send checks to Naomi. It will be the monthly meeting.

Free ski night

RUMFORD — A free ski night will take place at Black Mountain of Maine on Friday, Feb. 11. Free skiing, snowboarding and tubing will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. and free beginner lessons on Moose Run will be held from 5 to 7 p.m.

Prizes will be given away all night and the grand prize is a snowshoeing package  donated by the River Valley Healthy Community Coalition. Bangor Savings Back and Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association are sponsoring the night.
