MECHANIC FALLS — The Mechanic Falls Library will host a class in downloading books from the Web to the home computer at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16.
For everyone who received an e-book for Christmas and wants to download books free, there will be a demonstration. Attendees will also be shown how to download books to a readable CD and to other assorted appliances. A valid Mechanic Falls Library card is necessary. The Mechanic Falls Library participates in the Maine Infonet Download Library.

Victorian teen topic
NEW GLOUCESTER — The New Gloucester Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at the New Gloucester Community Building (Old Fire Barn), behind the town hall, Route 231.
The program will be “Letters of a New Gloucester Victorian Teenager,” based on the letters of Anna Potter Chandler, a collection that offers insight into town life at a period of growth and change in Maine history. Steve Chandler is the presenter.
Refreshments will be provided and all are invited. A members’ business meeting will follow.

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Feb. 7 were as follows:
