NORWAY — Euleita Marie Barker Whitney, 73, of Norway, passed away Feb. 1, at Stephens Memorial Hospital, surrounded by family, after a brief illness.

She was born Dec. 12, 1937, in Norway, to the late Carlton Barker Sr. and Ineze Mathison Barker. She grew up in East Stoneham and graduated from Fryeburg Academy in 1956. She then went to business school in Boston, Mass. She later met and married Eugene Whitney, divorcing after 23 years.

Over the years, she worked in the Oxford Hills area as an administrative assistant for many businesses including the David A. Klain Agency, Hebron Academy and the most recent being Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce.

Mrs. Whitney is survived by daughter, Dari and companion, John Landis, of Raleigh, N.C.; sons, Daryl of Norway and Darick and companion, Melanie Corbett, of Norway; grandchildren, Casey, Alyssa, Desiree and Evan Landis of Raleigh, N.C., Bailey Whitney of Norway and DJ Whitney of Norway; brothers, Carlton Barker Jr. of East Stoneham, Hubert Barker and wife, Esther, of Salem, N.H., and Durland Barker and wife, Cheryl, of East Stoneham; along with nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Dwight Barker; a sister-in-law, Mertice Barker; and a nephew, Donald Barker.
