The near-capacity crowd at the Central Maine Youth Center Saturday night saw a preview of the Western Maine Class A hockey championships as Lewiston handed St. Dom’s its first loss of the season, 5-2.

As is typical in a Lewiston-St. Dom’s contest, the opposing fans were very much involved in the game. But the Lewiston fans carried that one step too far. After Keith Pomerleau tied the game at 1-1 at 5:52 of the first period, the Lewiston side, in a well-orchestrated event, tossed about 100 tennis balls onto the ice.
