AUBURN — The Auburn Public Library hosts one-hour roundtable discussions of one fiction book and one nonfiction book each month. The fiction title this month will be “The Art of Racing in the Rain” by Garth Stein on Thursday, Feb. 17, and nonfiction, “The Immortal Life of Hentrietta Lacks” by Rebecca Skloot on Thursday, Feb. 10.
Titles selected are recent, popular, and thought-provoking and copies are available for borrowing from the library’s collection or through its online requesting system. Each discussion is led by an APL staffer. Participants may come to any or all of the discussions; no registration is required.
Upcoming fiction title will be “Water for Elephants” by Sara Gruen on March 17 and “Unlikely Disciple: A Sinner’s Semester at America’s Holiest University” by Kevin Roose on March 8 and 10.
On the fourth Tuesday of each month, the library also hosts an open book discussion, and all are invited to meet for lunch at noon in the library’s Grand Reading Room. No book is assigned; participants talk about whatever they’ve read or seen recently in the world of books and movies.
For a schedule of the discussions with dates and times, see the library’s events calendar at www.auburnpubliclibrary.org, or call the reference desk at 333-6640, ext. 4. For help borrowing a copy of a book, call the lending services desk at 333-6640, ext. 2.
