READFIELD — A man has been arrested and charged this afternoon in Carver, Mass. in connection with the death of a person whose body was discovered after a Readfield house fire Wednesday morning.

32-year-old David Silva Jr. was taken into custody by Massachusetts State Police this afternoon. Silva faces charges in Maine for murder, robbery and arson. He is currently being held by officials in Massachusetts.

According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, Silva lived at the Readfield house. Investigators travelled to Massachusetts last night after a pick-up owned by one of the residents of the Readfield house was discovered parked in Marshfield, Mass., about 20 miles from Caver, where he was arrested.

The Maine State Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet identified the cause of death or the body that was found burned beyond recognition in the basement of the Readfield home Wednesday morning. DNA testing will be conducted to positively identify the body, according to the press release.
