Dad-daughter dance

LISBON FALLS — A Father-Daughter Valentine Dance will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at the MTM Center, 18 School St. Door prizes will be given and refreshments will be served.

Advance tickets are $10 a couple and $5 for additional girl, on sale now through Friday, Feb. 11, at the Rec Dept. at MTM Center or Drapeau’s Costumes, Main Street. They will be $15 at the door and $5 for additional girl. A photographer will be present. For more information, call 353-2289.

Legion to meet

LEWISTON — Post 22, American Legion, will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St. Unit 22 Auxiliary will meet at 5:15 p.m.

A special segment of the meeting will be the observance of the 68th anniversary of the sinking of the U.S. Army troop transport Dorchester in the North Atlantic Ocean, where four U.S. Army chaplains gave their life jackets to soldiers. The four chaplains remained on board and went down with the ship.

Author to speak

POLAND — The Poland Historical Society will meet at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at the District 22 schoolhouse, Route 26. Author and historian James Leamon will speak on the Rev. Jacob Bailey, a Maine Revolutionary War Loyalist.

Leamon, author of “The Revolution Downeast: The War for American Independence in Maine,” is writing his latest book on Bailey. Following the presentation, a meeting will be held and light refreshments will be served. All are welcome.

CMCC class

AUBURN — The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will offer “Supervising People: the Essential Skills for Leaders” from 9 a.m. to noon Fridays, March 4 to April 1. The cost is $315, including workbooks and materials.

The program will help managers, supervisors and team leaders identify communication barriers, performance issues and will provide tools to address difficult employees.

Seniors trips

LEWISTON — Lewiston Seniors will be going to Merrill Auditorium to see Riverdance at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12. On Friday, April 8, they will go to the Cumberland Civic Center for “Stars on Ice” at 7 p.m.

A trip to Hollywood Slots in Bangor will be held Wednesday, April 27. On Wednesday, May 25, they will go to Haverhill, Mass., for a dinner/show with the Shaw Brothers.

Bridge results

AUBURN — The Lewiston-Auburn Bridge Club winners of an individual event at Schooner Estates on Feb. 9 were: first/second tie, Larry Fortier with Tom Dahlberg; third/fourth tie, Anna Vitiello with Rosemarie Goodwin.

No game was played on Tuesday at the Multi-Purpose Center, Lewiston.

Games are played at 9 a.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Multi-Purpose Center and at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Schooner Estates. A partner is guaranteed and all bridge players are invited. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate bridge games in the area.
