PARIS — The Rotary Club of Oxford Hills has announced the February Students of the Month at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School
Students named are Joe Ferracci, freshman; Billy Leahy, sophomore; John Simoneau, junior; and Dan Taylor, senior.
Each month high school staff members nominate students who they feel have “made a difference in their classroom.” The goal of the program is to reward teamwork, positive behavior, extra effort and good student citizenship.
The program is coordinated through the Oxford Hills Community Education Exchange. The nomination form lists character traits from which to choose when nominating students and explaining why that particular student exhibits those traits.
These four students were praised for their positive influence on their classmates by showing compassion and responsibility, politeness, quality work and priority placed on academics and achievement.
The students’ names and picture have been placed on a plaque that hangs in the hallway across from the school library. On Feb. 16 they will be honored at a Rotary breakfast. In addition, each month the four students have lunch with the principal.
This is the 11th year of the Rotary Club of Oxford Hills sponsorship of the Student of the Month Program, with Maureen Howard, director of the Education Exchange, as coordinator.
