RANGELEY — People facing cancer will soon be able to talk with others dealing with the disease.

In March, the first of three 12-week cancer support programs will start under the guidance of Certified Professional Counselor Marie Dexter of Rangeley. Dexter is also a mental health counselor, an emotional and psychological trauma specialist with a doctorate in clinical hypnotherapy.

With the Rangeley Region Health and Wellness Partnership (RRHWP) serving as a Partner in Health, Dexter is forming two support groups, one for people undergoing active cancer treatment and one for cancer survivors. Each eight-person group will meet bi-weekly from March to May, September to November and December to February.

Meetings will be held in the lower level of the Wellness Pavilion, operated by the RRHWP, on Dallas Hill Road and are free. For more information or to join one of the cancer support groups, contact Dexter at 864-2670.
