I don’t believe that the superintendent of Regional School Unit 52, Darlene Burdin, has a clue about the changes she is asking the RSU 52 Board of Directors to make.

She is proposing that the Leeds and Greene schoolchildren in grades five and six attend school in Turner. That means the kids have to be bused an hour earlier every day, which costs more for fuel and drivers.

When I asked what that cost would be, I could not get an answer.

If the program is approved and doesn’t work, I would doubt the superintendent would care, as she is leaving.

It all sounds like a shady deal to me. This has not been well-thought-out, and it doesn’t even let the voters discuss it or vote on it.

The RSU 52 Board of Directors must not approve it.
