AUBURN — Amy Keck, 36, of Lewiston, beloved daughter, niece, cousin, friend and colleague, died Feb. 12, at Hospice House.

She was born Sept. 4, 1974, the daughter of JoAnn Moody of Skowhegan and Daniel Keck of Wylie, Texas. She graduated from Brunswick High School in 1992, Mount Holyoke College in 1996 and the University of Maine School of Law in 1999.

She dedicated her life to helping others, represented best by her lifelong career as an attorney at Pine Tree Legal Assistance in the Bangor and Lewiston offices. She was the 2009 recipient of the Thomas P. Downing Award, which recognizes those who work tirelessly, often quietly, with great caring, and make significant contributions to Maine’s low-income citizens.

Before becoming gravely ill, she fulfilled her wishes to swim with dolphins in the Florida Keys, enjoy all four parks of Disney World, attend a Red Sox game and Cirque du Soleil. She was deeply touched by the creation of “Team Amy,” organized in her honor for the 2009 and 2010 Dempsey Challenge. The team raised significant funds in support of cancer victims and their families who utilize the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing at Central Maine Medical Center, where she received her treatment.

She is survived by her parents; her extended family; friends and colleagues.
