AUBURN — Jeanne F. Bissonnette of Lewiston passed away on Feb. 13 after suffering a massive stroke.

Born on March 13, 1921, in Lewiston to Paul and Alexina (Cloutier) Laplante, she was the sixth of seven children.

She worked for Geiger Brothers for approximately 21 years, but most of her life was spent taking care of her family in a home always filled with music.

In her teens, she and her sister Florence sung on WCOU AM radio as the yodeling duo “Judy and Sally.” Her love of singing continued throughout her life as a member of Holy Family Choir. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking — especially fudge and popcorn. She also enjoyed bowling, crocheting and doing word-search puzzles.

She will be truly missed for her strength, unique sense of humor, honesty and faith.

Her family extends a sincere thank-you to the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital and Hospice House for the warmth and caring shown to their mother and family.

In addition to being survived by a sister, Florence St. Pierre of Auburn; and a brother, Reynald Laplante of New Oxford, Pa.; she is also survived by her four children and their families: Connie Hitchcock and her husband, Bob, of New Jersey; Lorraine Giasson of Auburn; Joanne Reed of Rock Hill, S.C.; and Ronald Bissonnette and his wife, Donna, of Lewiston. She was the loving and generous grandmother of nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

She was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Roger B. Bissonnette, who died in 2006.
