DEAR SUN SPOTS: The Carthage veterans committee is continuing its search for veterans. If you or someone you know lived in Carthage while serving in any branch of service, during war or peace, we would like to recognize the service to our town, state and country by having the names on a monument.

Please contact me or see any of the other committee members: Phillip Hill, Larry Blodgett, Faye Hutchinson or Paula Hutchinson. — Cindy Hutchinson, 562-4291, cindyhutch@hughes.net

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Veterans who want to have their names put on the stones in Veterans Park should please disregard any old applications. We have new ones. If you need one, write to the L & A Veterans Council, P.O. Box 2316, Lewiston, ME 04241.

We are presently working on the 21st stone but need more names. If we don’t get the 216 names, we will not be able to unveil that stone on Memorial Day weekend.

For more information, you may call any of the officers: Chairman Raymond Boulet at 784-0101, Treasurer Wini Pelletier at 321-4297, Secretary Sally Wortherspoon at 577-0269 or me. Thank you. — Bert Dutil, adviser, 786-2305, badutil1@yahoo.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Rejoicing Spirits, an ecumenical worship ministry and community outreach for people with intellectual disabilities and their families and friends, is coming to Grace Lutheran Church Friday, Feb. 18, at 5 p.m., with a pizza supper following.

God’s message of love is shared through a meaningful and adapted Christian worship service and fellowship time. There is a lot of praise music with a brief inspirational message. This service is also well suited for families with active children. It is a shush-free, open and relaxed atmosphere, structured on a model of religious inclusion that has received national attention and many awards of recognition.

There will be a service on the third Friday of every month. Check out their website: www.rejoicingspirits.org. All are welcome. The church is at 757 Summer St., Auburn, 782-9697. For questions, contact Carol Weaver, worship leader, 312-5827or carolmweaver@juno.com. — No Name, greenekat@aol.com

DEAR SUN SPOTS: The monthly free supper at the Knights of Columbus, 148 Main St. in Jay, will be Feb. 19.

To many of the volunteers the free suppers are a lot more than serving those who need a meal. It has evolved to a community fellowship. We now open our doors at noon on the days of the free supper for people to come in while we cook. They may warm up, play cards or games, talk or sometimes they may just want a friend. Some of us may be playing cribbage while some other volunteers may be peeling potatoes.

All help is appreciated. Help is needed through donations of money, food or service, but especially fresh meat and vegetables.

We make sure everything is fresh and ready for 4:30 p.m., and we serve until 6 p.m. This month we are serving a complete ham dinner with mashed potatoes, applesauce, soup, salad, bread, dessert, hot and cold drinks. Meals are available for takeout for homebound residents. — Bob Chasse via e-mail
