DIXFIELD — The Dirigo Speech and Debate Team has capped off a great competition year with numerous awards.

Individuals recognized for overall points earned were Justin Mackin (500) and Emily Ray (1,000) both in Lincoln-Douglas Debate. Three students have qualified for national competitions: Emily Ray in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Jess Sattler in the speech category of duo and Kirsten Uhde in duo and original oratory.

Emily Ray was honored among all the students who compete in Maine Forensics as Student of the Year for Maine.

At the recent National Forensic League Qualifying Competition the team was awarded a High Points Sweepstakes Trophy – the first ever for Dirigo. The team was also honored with a sportsmanship award voted on by all the participating schools.

Dirigo teacher Brad Conant, coach, was recognized for Superior Distinction in Coaching by the National Forensics League.

All students in RSU10 are eligible to join the team and all are welcome.
