AUBURN —A Sabattus man was injured Friday afternoon when his car collided with a tractor trailer on Washington Street at Poland Spring Road.

Gregory S. Hall, 41, suffered leg and other injuries when his Dodge Neon was struck head-on by a tractor trailer at noon.

According to a police report, Hall was headed north on Washington Street and was turning left onto Moose Brook Road when his car collided with the tractor trailer.

Brian Cannon, 32, of Middleborough, Mass., had been driving the 1996 Kenworth south on Washington when the vehicles collided, according to the report.

Cannon was examined at the scene for cuts and scrapes. 

Phil Nadeau, Lewiston’s deputy city administrator, was driving on Washington Street when the vehicles collided. He said several motorist stopped at the scene to help the victims while emergency crews were on the way.

“It was bad,” said Nadeau, who stopped to direct traffic before police arrived. “A couple of good Samaritans stopped to help and staunched the bleeding” of the injured man.

Cannon had been driving for J.P. Noonan, a company out of Hooksett, New Hampshire.

Auburn police were continuing to investigate the crash later Friday.
