LISBON — Residents here will be seeing a new, slightly out-of-the-ordinary police car in the next few days.

The Lisbon Police Department has added a vehicle exclusively for its highly successful Officer Friendly program, thanks to several local businessmen.

The car, a completely reconditioned 1978 Pinto station wagon, was donated to the police department by the five duty wrecker services in town, Fern Larochelle, Peter Hunter, Alvah Campbell and Sons, Larry Stewart and Albie Martin. Steego Auto Parts in Lisbon Falls donated the new blue light on the top of the car.

The wagon has a fresh forest green paint job, sports a large yellow “smiley face” on the hood. There are several hand-painted cartoon characters on both sides and the rear with brief safety messages to children.
