RUMFORD — Two people were injured late Thursday afternoon when one vehicle rear-ended another as they traveled south on Maple Avenue.

Rumford police Sgt. James Bernard said Kevin Greenwood, 48, of Farmington was driving a 2003 Mercury sedan at about 5:56 p.m. With him was passenger Tracy Robbins, 35, also of Farmington.

The Mercury ran into the back of a 1999 Ford pickup truck driven by Eugene Knox, 70, of Rumford, causing $400 in damage, he said. The Mercury sustained about $4,000 damage.

Greenwood and Robbins were taken to Rumford Hospital, where they were treated for back and neck pain, Bernard said.

Patrolman Lawrence Winson responded to the scene.

Also on Thursday, a woman reported at 5:49 p.m. that someone hit her 1997 Saturn sedan while it was parked in front of a home on Penobscot Street, causing minor damage to the left front bumper. Officer Dave Hodgson responded to the complaint.
