PARSONSFIELD — The State Fire Marshal’s Office said Saturday that one person died after a fire moved through a house on South Road near the Limerick town line.
Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said firefighters discovered a body inside the ranch-style house shortly after they arrived Saturday afternoon.
The body was not identified. McCausland said the home is owned by an elderly man, who was not yet accounted for.
McCausland said the fire was reported at 4 p.m., but he did not know how it was reported or the cause. Four Fire Marshal’s Office investigators were at the scene late Saturday night trying to determine the cause of the blaze.
