LEWISTON — George B. Longley, 87, of 550 College St., formerly of 249 Grove St., Lewiston, died Sunday, Feb. 20, at Central Maine Medical Center, following a long illness.

He was born in Lewiston, April 16, 1923, the son of Thomas and Mary Sullivan Longley. He attended schools in Lewiston, graduating from Lewiston High School in 1940. George proudly served his country during World War II seeing duty in Sicily, Rome, Southern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.

He married Anita Beaudoin on Feb. 23, 1946, and enjoyed 65 years of marriage with his loving wife. George was a member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Lewiston. His work life was spent in the construction industry; he was an active member of Local 783 of the Pipefitters Union.

He is survived by his daughter, Carol Ann Milliken (Harry) of Lewiston; his son, Michael of Brunswickl four grandchildren, Eric Milliken (Wendy), Amy Brousseau (Scott), Mary Longley and David Longley; four great-grandchildren, all of whom brought him great joy in his later years’ and many dear nieces and nephews, both here in Maine, and in California.

Mr. Longley was predeceased by a sister, Mary (Peggy) Keith; brothers, Allen, Richard and Thomas; and a great-granddaughter, Hailey Brousseau.

The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Montello Manor and especially the staff at CMMC, T-1 for the skill and kindness shown to Mr. Longley.
