LEWISTON — The National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association will meet at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 22, at the Ramada Inn. A social half hour will be followed by lunch at noon.

Speaker will be State Rep. Peggy Rotundo, who will discuss legislative happenings, including proposed changes for the state retirement benefits.

She will explain passage of Silver Alert, establishing a statewide alert for adults with dementia or developmental disabilities, which she sponsored last year in the Legislature. She will give an update on the consequences of the legislation since its passage.

Rotundo is in her second term representing Lewiston in the State House. Prior to that she served in the State Senate for eight years. While there, she served on the Education Committee and chaired the Appropriations Committee. This is her ninth year serving on that committee.

A business meeting will follow, with reading of the minutes and discussion regarding old and new business.

Plans for the meeting were made at a board meeting attended by Richard St. Amand, Paul Ouellette, Doris Hamel and Martha Robinson.
