WILTON — A Maine State Police bomb team was called Sunday to check out a suspicious package found at the East Dixfield Post Office.
After X-raying the package, they determined it was harmless, according to a statement released by Wilton Police Department.
When Wilton Police officer Timothy Coombs first arrived at the post office at about 10 a.m. Sunday, he investigated the suspicious package and secured the area. He also called Chief Dennis Brown who went to the scene.
The bomb team was then notified and arrived at about 1 p.m. They X-rayed it and decided it was harmless.
Wilton Police canvassed the area around the post office and continue their investigation. The Dixfield Police Department assisted at the scene.
