AUBURN — A 65-year-old local man was hurt Wednesday afternoon when he crashed his motorcycle on Broad Street.

Police said Reuben Verrill of Auburn was headed north on Broad Street when he had difficulty negotiating a curve and was thrown from his Yamaha.

Verrill was not wearing a helmet and suffered a head injury in the crash, police said. He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was listed in critical condition late Wednesday afternoon. Wednesday night, a hospital spokeswoman said no further information about Verrill’s condition would be released.

Auburn police were investigating and said neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be factors.
