LEWISTON — After nearly 12 years as marketing director at the Lewiston-Auburn Economic Growth Council, Paul Badeau is leaving the Twin Cities to become communications director for Efficiency Maine.

His last day will be March 4.

“This position presented itself,” Badeau said. “When you’re with an organization for 12 years, I think sometimes it’s good for both the organization and for yourself to experience a change. I love my job — I’ve told everyone this, I absolutely love my job — I absolutely love this community, and I believe in it 110 percent, but there does come a time where it’s time to move on.”

An economic development agency for Lewiston-Auburn, the LAEGC provides technical assistance, commercial financing, site searches and marketing to area businesspeople. Because the LAEGC is a public/private partnership, its services are free.

Badeau said the LAEGC plans to fill his position, but that leaders are still considering what to do with the marketing director’s responsibilities in the meantime.

During his nearly 12 years with the LAEGC, Badeau helped grow its annual dinner and its popular Androscoggin Business to Business Trade Show. He was also involved in the “L/A, It’s Happening Here” campaign, which launched around 2002.

Efficiency Maine runs a variety of programs that promote the efficient use of electricity, help Mainers reduce energy costs and seek to improve the environment. Badeau will start his new job at the group’s Hallowell office on March 14.
