PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Former Maine Attorney General Janet Mills has a new job.

The Portland-based Preti Flaherty law firm said Mills has joined its litigation group in Augusta.

Mills became Maine’s first woman attorney general in 2009, but lost the post in December when the Republican majority in the Legislature replaced her with William Schneider.

Preti Flaherty said Mills has practiced law for nearly 35 years and has argued more than 100 cases before the Maine Supreme Judicial Court. She has been a district attorney and a state legislator, and worked at a private law practice in Skowhegan for 14 years.
