COLUMBIA, S.C. — Pvt. Jordan T. Chase, 19, of Lewiston and New Gloucester, died Sunday, Feb. 20, at Palmetto Richland Hospital.

He was born in Lewiston, Oct. 23, 1991, the son of Tom and Rhonda Doherty Chase and graduated from Gray-New Gloucester High School. Jordan was a new member of the Maine National Guard and was attending basic training at Ft. Jackson, S.C.

He enjoyed all outdoor activities, baseball, basketball, football, archery, hunting and fishing and playing video games. He was an outstanding young man who touched the hearts of people he met. Jordan was great with kids and will be missed by his nephew, Joel.

He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Rhonda and Reginald Tilley of Lewiston; father and stepmother, Tom and Brenda Chase of New Gloucester; sisters, Tara and Ashley Chase of Lewiston and New Gloucester; brother, Nicholas Doherty of Lewiston; stepbrother, Michael Crandall and his fiancee, Laura Wolfson, of Orono; stepsister, Marissa Crandall and fiance, Dennis Crooker Jr., of Auburn; stepbrothers, Dustin and Mathew Tilley of Lewiston; a nephew, Joel Crooker; maternal grandparents, Deanna Bernier and Norman Giguere of Auburn; maternal great-grandmother, Madeline Ross of Jefferson; maternal grandfather, Robert Burbank of Auburn; paternal grandparents, Dean and Clara Neal of New Gloucester and George and Maxine Baker of New Gloucester; stepgrandmother, Nelda Tilley and companion, Berle Brandt, of Turner; stepgrandfather, William Tilley and companion, Carol Green, of Kentucky; stepgreat-grandparents, Wayne and Beverly Tilley of Mechanic Falls; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

The family would like to thank the U. S. Army, Capt Ryan Reay, Capt. Person and the Maine Army National Guard.
