LEWISTON — The Planet Cheer All-Stars recently competed in the first competition of the 2011 season. The Northeast Winter Blast, hosted by the American Cheer and Dance Academy, was held at the Whittemore Center, University of New Hampshire.
Planet Cheer was represented by all six of its teams: Comets, Orbitz, Astros, Eclipse, Galaxy and Stardust. The gym earned four first-place championships, a second-place finish and an honorable mention.
Additionally, five teams received bids to compete at the U.S. finals competition, the culmination of the all-star cheering season in May. The Planet Cheer teams competed at the debut of the open championship competition, Maine Mania, at the Androscoggin Bank Arena on Feb. 13.
