SOUTH PARIS — Arthur Isaac Farrar, 76, passed away on Feb. 23, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Sumner, June 1, 1934, the son of Charles and Elsie Bonney Farrar. He attended Sumner schools and later received his GED from Oxford Hills High School.
He married Ruth Abbott on Oct. 27, 1956. He was employed for many years at A.C. Lawrence in South Paris. He was in the Armed Forces from 1956 to 1960.
Arthur was very family oriented and loved spending quality time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his beloved dog, Gussie. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed such trips with his many lifelong friends.
He spent most of the summer months camping with his wife and grandchildren in Freeport. He also enjoyed taking trips to Foxwoods.
He will be greatly missed by his wife of 55 years and family; daughters, Peggy Newton and Doreen Tibbetts; grandchildren, Tracy Tibbetts and Jennifer Newton-Fortin and her husband, Jon; great-grandchildren, Matthew Newton-Fortin, Brianna Newton-Fortin and Kimberly Paul; sisters, Janette Farrar Packard, Lorraine Farrar Pullen and husband, Richard, Jeanie Haral and husband, Jim and Anthony Farrar and wife, Patricia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents: and brothers, Roger and Vernon Farrar.
